چکیده

Mycobacterium tuberculosis is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Mycobacterium tuberculosis infects about one third of world population and tuberculosis remains the most frequent cause of death due to a single infectious disease. Anciently, herbal plants have established home remedies for many of common alignments, diagnostic procedures and preventive measures. Using this strategy, this study was proposed to find out anti-tuberculosis activity of medicinal plants viz. Withania somnifera and Pueraria tuberosa against M. tuberculosis H37Rv. Mycobacterium tuberculosis activity was tested using minimal inhibitory concentration method (MIC). Aqueous extract of W. somnifera (0.01-1.0 mg/mL) had significant effect against M. tuberculosis whereas, P. tuberosa in higher concentration showed no inhibition. The outcomes are possibly demonstrating a comprehendible evidence of the effective anti-tubercle activity of W. somnifera.

Synthesis of Novel Fluorene Bisamide Derivatives via Ugi Reaction and Evaluation their Biological Activity against Mycobacterium species

A series of new fluorene bisamide derivatives were synthesized through multi-component Ugi reaction and tested for their in vitro anti-mycobacterial activity. The structures of the products 5a-w were deduced from their IR, 1H NMR, and 13C NMR spectra. Elemental analyses (CHN) for novel compounds (5a, 5d, 5f, 5h, 5k, 5l, 5p, 5s, 5t, 5v, 5w) was done to. These compounds were evaluated as anti-bac...

Insights from the molecular docking of withanolide derivatives to the target protein PknG from Mycobacterium tuberculosis

A crucial virulence factor for intracellular Mycobacterium tuberculosis survival is Protein kinase G (PknG), a eukaryotic-like serinethreonine protein kinase expressed by pathogenic mycobacteria that blocks the intracellular degradation of mycobacteria in lysosomes. Inhibition of PknG results in mycobacterial transfer to lysosomes. Withania somnifera, a reputed herb in ayurvedic medicine, compr...
